The Home Depot® Foundation, whose goal is to assist non-profit organisations, has launched a crowdsourcing philanthropic venture. The program “Aprons in Action” will allow the public to help decide, through its Facebook page how the Foundation’s grant funds and volunteers should be allocated.

One way to do that is to tap into an existing network. Patrick Donohue, co-founder of Hoopfund.com, says the San Francisco-based site has grown to more than 4,000 members in less than a year.
